The number of children with speech and language challenges has increased to 1.9 million children. This is the highest number we’ve ever recorded. And it means more children than ever are at risk of leaving school without basic English and Maths skills, developing mental health problems and ending up in the criminal justice system. So we’ve developed an ambitious new strategy to reach more children and families than ever.
