Committee Volunteer

Location: Remote

Contract: Voluntary

Remuneration: Reasonable expenses paid

Do you care about the 1 in 5 children in the UK who have speech and language challenges?

Do you have 2-3 days per year free to volunteer?

Could you bring a fresh perspective to decisions at our growing charity?

We would love to hear from you if you are able to join one of our charity’s committees. Volunteers on our committees help our charity run better by providing advice, support and challenge. And we are committed to diversifying who is on them – we particularly want to hear from you if you are:

  • a person of colour
  • Under 35
  • Disabled
  • Working class
  • LGBT
  • Female
  • Based in the Midlands, North, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland

Given the nature of our work, we are keen to add more voices of personal or family experience of speech and language challenges too.

You do NOT need to have sat on a committee like this or been involved in a charity before.

We meet 3 or 4 times per year online for 2 hours at a time. We discuss key issues like how we can influence politicians more, how we fundraise and manage our finance, how we keep our organisation safe and how we improve our IT and people management. This would be a great role for you if you would like to become a charity Trustee in the future.

To apply, please send the below to by 9am Monday 27th November 2023:

  1. An explanation of why you would like to be a committee volunteer and a brief description of the skills, lived experience and/or knowledge you would bring to the charity (we are happy to receive
in written or video form send over via WeTransfer). If you have a CV or a link to a LinkedIn profile, you are welcome to email that to us as well.
  2. A completed recruitment monitoring form (please find link in a pack attached)  If you complete a monitoring form, we will separate it from your application and it will be used to help us monitor our recruitment practices.

Please get in touch with us if you would like some support with your application or if you need us to adapt the application process for any reason including disability.
