Speech, language and communication advanced course: Level 3 qualification
Our speech, language and communication advanced course is a level 3 accredited course.
Learners will gain knowledge and skills in how to support children and young people’s speech, language and communication skills and why this is important.
Practitioners who work with children and young people in early years, primary school, secondary school and further education. This could include childminders, early years practitioners, health visitors, speech and language therapy assistants, support workers, teachers, teaching assistants and other staff working in health or education. This course is suited to learners who want to gain a recognised qualification.
This course is level 3, which is the academic equivalent of A levels.
All learners complete two mandatory units, titled:
- Support speech, language and communication development
- Support children and young people’s speech, language and communication skills
You will also choose one elective unit from four options:
- Support the speech, language and communication development of children who are learning more than one language
- Supporting positive practice with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs
- Understand the speech, language and communication needs of children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
- Work with parents, families and carers to support their child’s speech, language and communication development
This is a self-paced course, so it is completed at your own pace and in your own time. It must be completed within 20 weeks (five months) of enrolment. The course can be completed comfortably within this time, although some learners complete it much quicker.
You will gain a recognised qualification to add to your CV. You will also gain new knowledge and skills which will help you better support the children and young people you work with. Many of the assessment tasks are practical activities which can be used in your workplace after you complete them.
You will be allocated a tutor through our partner, Course Beetle, who will grade your assessment tasks and provide feedback to support you with gaining the qualification.
