Filming consent form

We want to let you know that filming is going to take place at your child’s school. This is to help train teachers in other schools on ways to support students’ speech, language and communication skills.

About us

We are Speech and Language UK. We give children and young people the skills they need so they aren’t left behind, waiting to be understood. We do this by creating tools for schools and nurseries, giving advice to families and putting pressure on politicians.

About the films

We are making some short films to show teachers how to better support students’ communication skills. Your child’s school does an excellent job with this, so we’d like to film some examples of their high-quality teaching practices.

Teachers and educators will be able to watch the finished films on a secure, password-protected website and in live or online training sessions. All film footage will be stored securely following our privacy and data protection policies:

What might we film?

  • School staff leading a lesson with students.
  • Students working in small groups with school staff.
  • Students talking to school staff and to other students.
  • Students and school staff talking directly to the camera.

We will check that we have permission before filming anyone. Once the films are ready, we’ll ask the school to check them to make sure no students are shown without proper consent.

Your consent for your child to be filmed

Please only complete this form if you do consent for your child to be filmed.

If you do give your consent, you can always ask us later to stop using your child’s image or recording by emailing us at media@speechandlanguage.org.uk. Please note that while we work hard to control where these videos and photos go, there is a chance that others might copy them, for example, from our website. If you change your mind later and want your child’s image removed, let us know, and we’ll do our best to have it taken down.
