Payroll giving (GAYE)

Do you want to add value and purpose to your salary? Do you want to help children thrive?

Through the Give As You Earn (GAYE) scheme, over 2,500 companies and their staff give over £74 million to charity each year.

Also known as Payroll Giving, this option enables you as an employee and taxpayer to make regular charitable donations directly from your salary before tax, reducing the amount of tax you pay. Better still, HM Revenue & Customs gives us the tax it would otherwise have kept, meaning your gift is goes even further to help children with speech and language difficulties, at no additional expense to you. It’s a win-win!

And it’s easy to do – there is no need to set up any direct debits or standing orders with your bank or building society.

The first step is to check with your employer if they offer Payroll Giving. If they do, they can arrange your donation through your salary for you.

If your employer does not currently offer Payroll Giving, you can encourage them to set one up via any of the approved Payroll Giving agencies.

If your circumstances change and you want to change or cancel your donation, simply tell your employer.  If you change your job, your donations will not be transferred to your new employer, so you will need to rearrange it with them.

Did you know?

The Payroll Giving Quality Mark is a (government-funded) scheme which rewards organisations of all sizes for their commitment to Payroll Giving. Is your company aiming for this recognition?
