Contract Type: 1 year fixed term contract with a likely opportunity to extend.
Working pattern: 35 hours per week, 8:30am to 4:30pm
40 weeks per annum (term time plus up to one week during the school closure period)
Role Overview:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will join our multidisciplinary team, which includes Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other Learning Support Assistants. This rewarding role will see you play a vital part in providing classroom support and helping pupils develop communication, curriculum, social, and behavioural skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support for children’s educational and social needs.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons, providing one-on-one and group support.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, respecting their diverse backgrounds and promoting inclusive learning.
- Support behaviour management, using effective strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
- Contribute to the assessment of pupils’ progress and help adapt teaching approaches accordingly.
- Use ICT and other tools to support and enhance learning.
- Support school activities, such as swimming sessions, playtime, and off-site trips.
- Participate in training and development opportunities, including safeguarding, medical support, and classroom management.
What we are looking for:
- Experience working with primary-age pupils, ideally in an SEN environment.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a flexible and positive attitude.
- Basic literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills (GCSE Grade C or equivalent).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
