Job Title: Residential Support Worker

Location: Dawn House, Rainworth, Nottinghamshire, NG21 0DQ
Hours: You will work 129 hours in an 4-week rota period (average of 32.25 hours per week). This does not include sleepover duties.
You continue to work 45.07 weeks per year (39 weeks term time + 6.07 weeks annual leave).
Sleepovers: A sleepover is defined as 9 hours from 10.30pm to 7.30am. You are not expected to perform the duties of your role during this time of the sleepover duty. You are required to sleep overnight with the possibility of waking to provide support if needed. You will receive a guaranteed allowance for the sleepovers included in your rota (7 sleepovers per 4-week rota). You will receive additional payment for any additional sleepovers which you agree to work. Additional sleepovers would be paid at a rate of £40.77.
Role Overview
As a Residential Support Worker you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to young people with speech, language, and communication challenges. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote independence, develop social skills, and ensure students’ safety and well-being. By delivering tailored activities and contributing to care plans you will help students thrive both within the school and in preparation for adulthood.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver childcare and activities tailored to individual needs, maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to support students’ educational and personal development.
- Prepare Residential Care Plans and contribute to Annual Reviews and Individual Learning Plans.
- Ensure students’ safety and well-being, including risk assessment for activities.
- Assist in preparing meals and leading recreational and sporting activities.
- Stay informed about childcare legislation, safeguarding practices, and health and safety standards.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
What we are looking for
- Experience working with children, ideally in residential or special educational needs settings.
- NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (or willingness to achieve this).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and behaviour management skills.
