EYSEND partnership

Free training for early years professionals at any level

Are you an early years educator? Do you want to support the 1.9 million children who are struggling with talking and understanding words?

Our free training, which is part of our EYSEND partnership, is perfect for all early years practitioners, SENCos and managers. It will help you to support children with their speech and language in your education setting, Family Hub or other work place. The training will also provide you an opportunity to continue your professional development as you progress in your career with the knowledge and insights learned.

We provide training at two levels:

  • Core training - Consists of two videos and a live follow up webinar. Watch the videos, then book onto the live webinar to see how to put your knowledge into practice. Core training covers basic understanding of speech and language support. It is ideal for new practitioners or for those who are developing an understanding of speech and language in the early years.
  • In-depth training - A series of live webinars for practitioners who have had previous training or knowledge of speech and language and would like to extend this knowledge further. There are two topics to choose from:
    • Ensuring quality support for speech and language challenges in early years settings
    • Supporting social communication in the early years

You can choose to start with the core training, or you can move straight to the in-depth training.

Core training

Our core training videos work around you. They are pre-recorded so can be viewed at any time, and can be completed at your own pace alone or in small groups. The training consists of two different modules, building on your knowledge base as you work through them. When you have completed both modules, there is a live follow-up webinar to book onto. The live webinar will enable you to explore the content of the modules in more detail and think about how to put what you have learnt into practice.

The downloadable participant pack will introduce you to speech and language challenges in the early years. They will also help you take initial steps in exploring the impact of speech and language challenges on young children and help you to identify and support these children in your setting.
